Access to healthy food is the foundation of good health, and the truth is that children do not have equal access to healthy food. At FLIPANY, we build health equity by ensuring that children from low and mid-income families get delicious, nutritious meals on a daily basis.
Afterschool Meal Program
Over the past 8 years, FLIPANY has developed and implemented a very successful food access model where we provide eligible after school programs with delicious and nutritious snacks and meals for children to eat before they go home. FLIPANY’s unique ability to do this work is shown by our current successes in expansion and outreach.
• 4,500 healthy snacks daily (810,000 snacks during the school year)
• 1200 healthy suppers and 900 PowerSnacks daily, plus an additional 2,000 lunches on full day camps (394,000 healthy meals during the school year)
• 4,500 children are served daily in 115 Afterschool Programs (operates during the school year)
Summer Meal Program
FLIPANY is an approved Meal Sponsor for the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP), a program federally funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). Summer Foods is a great opportunity for children in the community to have nutritious breakfast, lunch, and snacks during the summer term.

In Miami-Dade and Broward County, FLIPANY serves 119 locations.
At FLIPANY-sponsored locations, children get to enjoy curry chicken salad, teriyaki stir-fry chicken and veggies, and baked ziti pasta for lunch, and delicious breakfasts like fresh fruit with soft baguettes. All meals are balanced in accordance with USDA recommendations.
Senior Meals & Nutrition
FLIPANY is excited to share that we are now serving Congregate meals in the Broward County. Congregate meals offer nutritional and social benefits and are a healthy and convenient option for anyone 60 years old or older. The Area Agency of Aging of Broward County is looking to provide elders with high quality, tasty, nutritionally sound, culturally diverse meal choices and to encourage participation, socialization and satisfaction with the meals received in a congregate setting.
Well-balanced meals are available through FLIPANY at Congregate Meal Site locations throughout Broward County.
Create A Healthier Community
Using a community-based service approach to reach participants where they are – FLIPANY provides local organizations with custom-designed opportunities to enhance their existing services. FLIPANY works hand-in-hand with these local organizations, and the populations they serve, to evaluate needs, design evidence-based solutions, and implement change. These value-added individual or group-based wellness solutions include direct nutrition education, physical activity programming, health promotion, and intervention strategies. This programming is provided on-site at locations such as early childcare centers, schools, community centers, parks and recreation programs, medical centers, and other partner sites. Working together, FLIPANY and over 600 partner organizations strive to create healthier South Florida communities.
