Women’s Community Health Series

A BIG THANK YOU!!!!

FLIPANY and the Extraordinary Women’s Council recently collaborated this past Friday, April 28th, 2023 to present an exclusive panel discussion on health and well-being at The Tower Club in Fort Lauderdale. The event was a great success, with the panelists and moderator delivering a thought-provoking and informative discussion on the realities of community health, nutrition education, and access to health services. Attendees left feeling empowered and ready for our next Moving Forward with FLIPANY event.

All of us at FLIPANY would like to express our gratitude to the Tower Club Fort Lauderdale, the esteemed panelists, and all the attendees for making the first “Moving Forward with FLIPANY” breakfast a resounding success. We are thrilled to have brought together exceptional executives, non-profit partners, corporations, and community leaders for a unique collaboration on community health.

The esteemed guest panelists included Dr. Deb Duro, a Pediatric Gastroenterology Specialist at Broward Health who advocates for family health and loves plant-forward meals; Yamilet Strauss, President and CEO of Merchant Processing Solutions, Inc. who helps businesses streamline their payment systems; Lynne Kunins, President, CEO, and founder of FLIPANY, a nonprofit organization advancing health equity through access to healthy food, nutrition education, and mentored physical activities for underserved communities; and Sue-Ann Robinson, a highly regarded trial attorney and civil rights advocate who moderated the discussion.

The panelists engaged the audience in a thoughtful discussion on the historical transformation of health and wellness practices, current challenges, and the importance of working together to overcome obstacles. The interactive session underscored the need for universal access to health and wellness facilities and services, with a particular focus on low-income families. Moreover, the speakers emphasized corporate social responsibility in promoting a healthy lifestyle, and they highlighted the significance of education, voting, and other avenues for advancing health equity throughout society. Dr. Duro also provided insights on the benefits of plant-based diets for children who suffer from diet-related health issues.

Thank you to the Tower Club Fort Lauderdale and to their great professional staff for hosting FLIPANY’s breakfast event. A big shout out to Yamilet and David Strauss for bringing the Extraordinary Women’s Council together with FLIPANY and supporting this event. And, as always, a big thanks to FLIPANY Board Chair, Dr. Kathy Ludwig for championship energy and leadership.
